He swam 1.4 km in 73.7 minutes whereas chaining his legs in the ‘Padmasana’ pose
The 65-year-old Gangadhar G. Kadekar, a former worker of the Regional Transport Office, made it to the India Book of Records by swimming a distance of 1.4 km in 73.7 minutes by chaining his legs in the ‘Padmasana’ pose in the ocean in Padukare in Udupi district on Sunday.
He breaststroked towards the wind and reached the flag on the east aspect of the shore at Padukare – the vacation spot. Harish R., the adjudicator from India Book of Records, offered the provisional certificates to him.
Mr. Kadekar informed reporters that he was a bit fearful when he noticed an enormous group of jelly fish deep contained in the water. “Fortunately the jelly fish did not come up. Had they come up, I would have had to give up covering the distance,” he stated.
Mr. Kadekar took up swimming on the age of 50. Concerned about so many children drowning in the ocean, he has since been coaching youth in swimming in the ocean for the final two years underneath the Jai Durga Swimming Club. Mr. Kadekar has received gold, silver and bronze medals in the State-level nationwide stage swimming competitors for seniors. He stated he skilled in swimming by chaining his legs for 20 days, earlier than trying the feat.

On December 18, 2020, authorities college instructor Nagaraj Kharvi made it to India Book of Records by swimming a distance of 1 km in 25 minutes and 16.63 seconds by chaining his legs in the Padmasana pose in the ocean in Mangaluru. He completed this feat at Tannirbhavi seashore in Mangaluru.
