A gathering of the organisation held at Sulthan Bathery on Wednesday urged Forest officers to cease deceptive propaganda relating to the problem. Similar propaganda was made by the Forest division officers in Tamil Nadu whereas declaring such zones within the neighbouring Nilgiris district. But the lives of the folks in Gudalur and Pandalur taluks of Nilgiris district had change into depressing after the declaration of the zones there, Mr. Thomas mentioned. The organisation would stage a dharna at Pozhuthana within the district at 3 p.m. on Friday as part of the agitation, he mentioned.
The meet urged all grama panchayats and municipalities within the district to cross resolutions to declare stray wild animals akin to wild boar, monkey, and deer as vermin as per Section 62 of the Wildlife Protection Act to mitigate man-animal battle within the district. It additionally raised calls for akin to stopping all transfer to declare the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary as a tiger reserve and adopting steps to mitigate accelerating man-animal battle.
