Cheating: Seven persons arrested

The metropolis police nabbed an inter-State gang of cheats who would dupe folks of their cash by promising to obtain gold at low-cost costs. The police recovered ₹15 lakh from them in addition to gold biscuits, two automobiles, a two-wheeler and 5 telephones used.
The accused have been named as Mustafa alias Yusuf, Abdul Hakim, Kunjiraman, Mohammad Shafi, Gurucharan, Karthik and Samiullah. While Mustafa, Kunjiraman and Shafi are from Kerala, Abdul Hakim, Gurucharan and Karthik are from Kodagu and Samiullah is from Mysuru.
A particular crew was constituted to trace down the gang after two instances of dishonest have been reported within the metropolis. Based on a tip off, the police zeroed in on Mustafa which led to the arrest of six others. While Mustafa, Kunjuraman and Abdul Karim have been nabbed on Monday, the remaining have been taken into custody on Wednesday.
The police stated that Mustafa launched himself as a gold service provider to at least one Abdul Sammad and promised to obtain gold for him at lower than the market worth. Trusting Mustafa, Sammad parted with ₹5 lakh money solely to comprehend subsequently that he had been cheated. A grievance was filed with the V.V. Puram police. Similarly, Mustafa cheated Aslam by befriending him after introducing himself as a gold supplier with connections in excessive locations and will buy gold at low-cost charges. Aslam parted with ₹23.5 lakh following which Mustafa alias Yusuf went lacking. Aslam filed a grievance with NR Police on realising that he had been cheated.
The police stated preliminary interrogation revealed that the gang needed to steer a luxurious life and resorted to crime and dishonest to fund their way of life. Their arrest has led to fixing of two dishonest instances reported from Narasimharaja Police station limits and V.V. Puram Police station limits. The Commissioner of Police Chandragupta complimented Deputy Commissioner of Police Geetha Prasanna and her crew for cracking the 2 instances.
