“Such gross misrepresentation vindicates the decision to boycott this address,” Mr. Yechury tweeted. The Left MPs boycotting the President’s address had staged a protest march in entrance of Parliament on Friday morning.
Mr. Yechury mentioned that the farm payments have been handed in a din, not permitting any dialogue, negating voting and suspending MPs who demanded a vote. “All this in a tearing hurry in the midst of a raging pandemic. All parliamentary procedures were violated, refusing parliamentary committees’ right to scrutiny, winter session cancelled yet claim passage after “extensive deliberations”.” He mentioned such misrepresentations in President speech lowered the dignity of the best workplace.
Calling it shameful, he mentioned all Constitutional establishments have been being undermined. “Destroying Indian Constitution and changing the character of our Republic. This will not be allowed.”
Congress MP Manish Tewari mentioned that the “ritual” of the President’s address needs to be performed away with. “Time has come to do away with the Ritual of President’s address to joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament & Governor’s address to Vidhan Sabha’s. It is an inane recitation of a laundry list of Government’s alleged achievements. A sheer waste of precious Legislative time,” Mr. Tewari mentioned.
His colleague in Lok Sabha Karti Chidambaram mentioned that the address couldn’t have been extra prosaic. “Nothing that actually matters to the country was discussed today, aside from the same old laundry list of government talking points. The President chose to gloss over critical problems India is facing and ignored issues evoking mounting criticism from across the country,” Mr Chidambaram mentioned.
