AIADMK functionary attacked in Ayapakkam, fights back

The police have nabbed three individuals in reference to the assault on an AIADMK union deputy secretary in Ayapakkam, on Monday night. CCTV footage of the assault was circulated on message sharing platforms.
According to police, M.M. Murthy (45) of Ayapakkam, an AIADMK union deputy secretary and former councillor, had earlier enmity with a person, Prabhakaran. On Monday night, when Murthy was strolling on the busy 1st Main Road, he was attacked from behind by a person. Before he was attacked once more by one other gang member, he managed to grab the sharp weapon from his attacker.
Upon seeing Prabhakaran, Murthy chased and attacked him with the weapon a number of instances. Seeing this, motorists and pedestrians took to their heels. The police have been alerted in regards to the incident.
The Tirumullaivoyal police despatched the injured to hospital. A case has been registered and three individuals have been secured in reference to the incident. Further investigations are on.
