West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday suffered accidents in her leg while campaigning in Nandigram. Ms Banerjee alleged that when she was greeting folks, 4 to 5 folks surrounded and pushed her.
“There were no local police personnel. Even the Superintendent of Police was not there.. There is lot of swelling .. I am in pain and have to return to Kolkata,” Ms Banerjee instructed journalists. “After widespread response from the people of Nandigram Block-1 yesterday, Ms Mamata Banerjee visited several places of Nandigram Block II after filing nomination at Haldia. She offered Puja in one after another temple,” mentioned Sukhendu Sekhar Ray, Trinamool Congress MP who was in Nandigram with Ms Banerjee.
“There was a massive response from people everywhere. At about 6.15 p.m., when she was about to leave Birulia Anchal after performing Puja in a temple, a few unknown persons pushed her to the car and forcibly shut down the door, as a result of which she sustained injuries in her left leg and also suffered severe pain in the waist.”
The State’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya mentioned the social gathering needs a speedy restoration to the Chief Minister.
“There should be a high-level inquiry and her allegations should be proved. She is Z category protectee and it should be proved why security personnel were not with her,” Mr Bhattacharya mentioned.
