Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister stated Srimanta Sankaradeva had warned of illegal immigration

She reminded the U.P. Chief Minister that the saint-reformer was in opposition to idol worship and the exploitation of individuals by those that adopted Manusmriti. Srimanta Sankaradeva believed within the assimilation of society and was in opposition to the caste system, she stated.
