Virudhunagar MP B. Manickam Tagore has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to declare all journalists as frontline staff and permit vaccination for them no matter their age.
In a memorandum, he mentioned that India had the best fatalities amongst journalists dying attributable to COVID-19 throughout Asia and the second-highest internationally.
He mentioned that each one journalists, together with editorial workers, photographers, videographers, cameramen, technicians, technical workers and all assistants should be declared frontline staff. Even freelance journalists, digital journalists, columnists and part-time media individuals should be vaccinated and certificates for vaccination should be given to them.
Press Clubs in each State should be used as COVID-19 care centres and households of journalists and media individuals who’ve misplaced their lives attributable to COVID-19 should be provided compensation, the Congress MP mentioned.
