Extended airport runway to be operational from July 15

The prolonged runway of Vijayawada International Airport will be operational from July 15.
District Collector J. Nivas together with Airport (*15*) G. Madhusudhana Rao, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan and others inspected the airport premises on Wednesday.
Speaking on the event, Mr. Nivas stated that the prolonged runway would be used from July 15. He stated the runway may facilitate operations of enormous plane like Boeing 737 and others.
Mr. Nivas stated runway extension and airport enlargement was taken up in 837 acres space and the method of allocation plots in layouts to evacuees beneath Rehabilitation and Resettlement had been accomplished.
He stated compensation was being paid and allocation of plots in Dawajigudem R&R colony will be carried out by way of lottery. He stated all fundamental facilities would be supplied within the R&R colony.
Meanwhile, the airport has equipped to function worldwide companies from July 15 with the opening of prolonged runaway. The runway of size 2.2 km had been elevated to 3.3 km.
So far, the airport regardless of being declared as a global airport in 2017 had operated worldwide companies to and from Singapore and beneath the Vande Bharath Mission throughout COVID lockdown.
