Police have arrested two brothers who have been promoting illegally remdesivir, the drugs getting used for treating COVID-19 sufferers, at inflated value to the sufferers desperately in want of the drug.
Police stated shock verify was carried out in a pharmacy on Maettukaliyamman Temple Street in Kovilpatti on Thursday night time by Deputy Director of Health Services, Kovilpatti, Anita and Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kovilpatti, Kalaikathiravan following details about hoarding of remdesivir within the store to be offered at inflated value.
During the search, the crew seized 42 vials of remdesivir from the store owned by Shanmugam of Gandhi Nagar in Kovilpatti and his brother Ganesan.
When grilled, the brothers reportedly instructed the police that they’d bought the drug from Tirunelveli and Madurai for ₹16,000 and have been promoting it for anyplace between ₹20,000 and ₹30,000.
