In English it is called hate speech, and since the world is inter-connected, other countries are asking should this happen in India? This country belongs to all, he says.

Yesterday the country paid homage to Lata Mangeshkar ji, we heard her song- ae mere watan ke logon….don’t damage country’s image. This country belongs to all, we have to move forward together. Anand Sharma on GDP, employment, national security
Read your economic survey for the level of unemployment in the country, only 52 crore people are employed, 42 crore don’t have jobs, he says.
“We are not saying that you invited COVID-19 on telephone, it affected the economy, we are aware of that. Economy is at March 2020 level,” he says. “Debt to GDP ratio is 90%, and this won’t be corrected by selling national assets.”
He alleges that there was no mention of national security in the address.
“1 lakh forces deployed at China border. Newspapers know, foreign departments know, shouldn’t this be discussed in Parliament? In 1962, Nehru discussed the situation in the middle of a war. We were told that in-camera briefing will be done (on China), but nothing was done,” he says.

Anand Sharma (INC), MP, Himachal Pradesh says that the President’s speech is just a laundry list of achievements by the govt. “I was thinking, who wrote the President’s speech? Whoever wrote it should be answerable. They did not do justice for the President, it belies the present circumstances.”
He says that a rosy picture is being shown, everyone wants the country to progress, a line is being drawn that Opposition does not want it to.
He says, Nehru remained in jail for 14 years, Indira and Rajiv Gandhi were martyred, how can you question their contribution? We acknowledge the work done during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure also. “We never said Vajpayeeji didn’t work, but this govt. says that the Congress govt. has not done anything at all, which is wrong.”
You cannot dismiss the work done by previous governments. A country cannot run on single ideology, India did not rise in 2014, it is a culmination of 74 years, he says.
This could be my last speech in the House, please let me speak, he urges the treasury benches. “You were not bequeathed a country that was barren and people didn’t have clothes to wear or which didn’t have a standing in the world.”

Seema Dvivedi (BJP), MP, Uttar Pradesh says that we lost many near and dear ones during the pandemic. The Govt. of India spearheaded the vaccination process, and provided vaccines to many countries in the world, she says.
She says that India has put forth responsible commitments to bring down the impact of climate change.
Women are capable of doing everything men do, and it’s because of PM Narendra Modi, all women could reach their true potential, she says.

Parliament to be adjourned for an hour on Monday as mark of respect to Lata Mangeshkar
The Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha will be adjourned for an hour on Monday as a mark of respect to legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar after the members pay tributes to her in both houses of Parliament, sources said.
Officials said a decision has been taken that the Rajya Sabha will be adjourned for an hour after Chairman M. Venkaiah Naidu reads Mangeshkar’s obituary when the House meets for the day at 10 am on Monday.
In the Lok Sabha too, soon after the House meets at 4 pm, Speaker Om Birla will read out Mangeshkar’s obituary and adjourn the proceedings for an hour, the sources said.
The legendary singer passed away in a Mumbai hospital on Sunday morning at the age of 92. She was admitted to the hospital in January after she was down with COVID-19.
Both houses of Parliament are witnessing a debate on the motion of thanks on the president’s address and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to reply to the debate in the Lok Sabha on Monday and in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
