Chhattisgarh police book ADG suspended in DA case on sedition charge for ‘conspiracy’ against government

Chhattisgarh police have filed a sedition case against G. P. Singh, an IPS officer, who was suspended earlier this week in a disproportionate property case following raids on his premises by the State’s Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW), officers stated on Friday.
According to police, the paperwork recovered throughout the raids revealed that Singh was allegedly concerned in selling enmity and hatching a conspiracy against the established government and public representatives.
Singh was booked beneath IPC Sections 124-A (sedition) and 153-A (selling enmity between totally different teams on grounds of faith, race, hometown, residence, language, and so forth) of the IPC at Raipur’s City Kotwali police station late on Thursday evening, Raipur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Yadav stated. The motion was taken primarily based on the seizure report filed by ACB/EOW to police in reference to the raids, he stated. Further investigation into the matter is underway, he added.
The ACB/EOW which carried a three-day search at round 15 places linked to Singh, an Additional Director General (ADG) rank officer, from July 1 to three, claimed to have found movable and immovable property price round ₹10 crore.
Singh, a 1994-batch officer, who was earlier ADG of the ACB and EOW, was posted as director of the State police academy earlier than being suspended on July 5.
During the raid on the official residence of Singh in Raipur in Pension Bada, some items of torn papers have been discovered from the yard of the home. When items of papers have been rearranged, severe and delicate contents have been discovered to be written and typed on it, the FIR stated.
“These papers contained objectionable comments against leaders of reputed political parties along with detailed plans of conspiracy. Besides, secret assessments related to representatives and candidates of different Assembly constituencies along with comments on serious issues of the concerned area were also written on it. The papers also contained critical comments on several government schemes, policies, social and religious issues”, it stated.
Similarly, the raid on the home of Mani Bhushan, an affiliate of Singh, in Raipur, unearthed a five-page doc, in which feedback have been written in English against public representatives, officers, government schemes and insurance policies, it added.
The seized paperwork include provocative contents that may promote hatred and dissatisfaction against the government, the FIR stated.
