Congress workers held protests across the district towards the rise in costs of petrol and diesel on Friday.
Laxmi Hebbalkar, MLA, visited petrol pumps and interacted with commuters who had been making an attempt to fill their autos.
She instructed them that the Central and State governments had been elevating taxes on the fuels, resulting in a cascading impact of excessive worth of all commodities.
She requested the commuters whether or not this was what they anticipated requested them to expressed their dissatisfaction with the federal government and never undergo silently.
BJP leaders had been protesting towards the taxes on gas when the worth of petrol was ₹55. But, now when they’re in energy and have failed to boost different taxes as a result of ‘failed’ financial system, they’re resorting to taxing the fuels, she stated.
Even through the lockdown, the federal government has raised the costs by ₹26 on petrol and ₹24 on diesel. “The government is blind to the problems of the common man. Congress is opposed to the hike in prices,” she stated.
Ms. Hebbalkar and different Congress members held placards and staged protests on the Belagavi-Hirebagewadi major highway .
