Controversy as Minister holds meeting of officials at party office

The presence of high district officials at a meeting held by School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi with voluntary businesses at the DMK party office in Tiruchi on Monday has triggered an argument.
Collector S. Divyadharshini [since transferred]; Commissioner of Police, Tiruchi City, Arun; and Corporation Commissioner S. Subramanian have been current at the meeting held at the DMK (Tiruchi south) office at V.N. Nagar close to Chathiram Bus Stand. Besides them, representatives of Rotary and Lions golf equipment and different voluntary organisations took half within the hour-long meeting. Taking robust exception to Mr. Poyyamozhi holding a meeting with the highest officials at the DMK office, the AIADMK (Tiruchi south) has despatched a petition to the Governor, urging him to sack the Minister for “breaching” constitutional decorum. Denying the cost, the Minister mentioned that it was not a deliberate meeting, and was relatively a coincidence. According to him, the Collector, Commissioner of Police and Corporation Commissioner had visited the party office to greet him for having turn into a Minister whereas he was holding a dialogue with the members of voluntary organisations on involving them within the COVID-19 aid and consciousness actions. Since it was a topic regarding all, the officials too shared their opinion within the meeting.
As a public servant, he was conscious that it was not correct to carry an official meeting at the party office, Mr. Poyyamozhi mentioned.
