The Madras High Court on Monday suspended judicial work in all trial courts across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in view of the regular surge in the variety of individuals testing optimistic for COVID-19.
According to an official memorandum issued by Registrar General P. Dhanabal, the trial courts shall not take up any judicial proceedings, apart from remand functions and different unavoidable issues, till additional orders.
The memorandum has been issued on a day when a Chief Judicial Magistrate in Tirunelveli died as a consequence of COVID-19 and days after the Tamil Nadu Judges Association requested the High Court to allow judicial officers to work from house.
The memorandum additionally said that litigants and legal professionals could be prohibited from coming into courtroom complexes across the State and the Union Territory except such entry was unavoidable and had been permitted by the judicial officer involved.
The judicial officers and courtroom workers had additionally been instructed to not attend courtroom except it was completely essential.
