In a letter to the Chairperson of the committee and BJP chief Meenakshi Lekhi, Mr. O’ Brien stated the essence of the committee is being violated. He stated the committee is “trying to hurry the process of legislation” omitting consultations with the stakeholders.
“It is of serious concern that the committee is considering clause by clause consideration of the contents of the Bill before completing its consultation with the stakeholders,” he wrote within the letter.
He stated extra authorized teams with experience in areas resembling cyberpolicy, information privateness and information safety must be invited to depose earlier than the committee.
The Trinamool chief stated the frequency of the committee conferences has elevated in previous few days, which makes it troublesome for MPs like him who must journey from States to attend the assembly within the time of the pandemic.
He identified that the committee has held 18 conferences over a interval of 10 months. In the primary seven months, solely 5 conferences have been held, whereas 13 conferences have been held prior to now three months.
“Now in the middle of a pandemic, the committee is meeting three days a week. This might work well for those MPs who live in Delhi-NCR. For those of us who have to take flights every week, this is not safe,” he stated.
