The singer’s new single ‘Besura’ hits out at social media deciding the destiny of a music

That’s Benny Dayal at his sarcastic finest. The strains are from his newest Hindi single, ‘Besura’, which he says “is my heart on the plate I eat these days”.
Benny has written, composed and sung the monitor, which is the first music of his EP, SHOSHAL MEDIA MUSIC. “‘Besura’ talks about my frustration as to how musicians feel after learning and training in classical music for so many years and yet don’t receive any recognition for their hard work sincerity and diligence”, explains Benny in the video.
He caught up with MetroPlus over a Zoom chat from his house in New Jersey, in the US. Excerpts:
Trigger behind ‘Besura’
I used to be disheartened by the strategy of sure folks to music. We study music to change into good musicians and it’s a chic feeling when folks admire you. Fame is all that issues for many kids. Their intention is to make movies, submit them on social media and get likes, views, followers and subscriptions. I get movies on my social media pages asking for suggestions. Writing the music

Response from the trade
They had been glad and was like, ‘Truth had to be told’. The music just isn’t meant to harm anyone or to create a feud. My level is that in case you are placing up a video, do it correctly! Nobody is ideal. But practise holds the key. That brings finesse to your music. Don’t make music for the numbers. In reality, ‘Besura’ itself hasn’t garnered a whole lot of views. But I’m glad that I did it.
On the EP, SHOSHAL MEDIA MUSIC
There are 4 songs and I’ve written three of them. All of them are in the similar flavour. I intentionally named it SHOSHAL as a result of that’s how some folks pronounce the world ‘social’! (laughs).
Music immediately
Not many composers are utilizing harmonies. Earlier, musicians would recommend together with them so as to add layers to a composition. Now the focus is on the increased and decrease octaves. That has change into the development and I don’t know the place that is heading to.
Beating lockdown blues
I can’t wait to get on the stage. Since that’s not occurring quickly, I’m channelising all my power into making songs, movies and recording tracks at house. Lockdown was a much-needed time for all artistes to make their very own music. I’ve been doing that since 2009-10, enjoying with indie bands and writing songs. Musicians the world over are doing that, thus turning into the face of their works. I like to recommend fellow artistes to create their very own productions, at the same time as they do movie songs. Looking forward

Finally… ideas on SPB [SP Balasubrahmanyam]
He has been an inspiration. I sang my first music, ‘Ballelakka’ [from Sivaji] with him. My voice is in the refrain. I shared this with him on the units of Super Singer on Vijay TV. It was a memorable second and I clicked an image with him. I used to be touched when he took my hand and positioned it in his for the digicam. He used to say, ‘I know I am a good singer but I am not such a great singer’. That is the signal of his greatness.
