K.V. Sampath Kumar ran the world’s solely Sanskrit day by day
K.V. Sampath Kumar, 64, editor of Sudharma, reckoned to be the nation’s and the world’s solely Sanskrit day by day, handed away in Mysuru on Wednesday afternoon following cardiac arrest.
He, alongside along with his spouse Vidushi K.S. Jayalakshmi, had been awarded the Padma Shri in 2020 by the federal government in recognition of their untiring efforts to maintain the publication alive towards all odds
Sampath Kumar had taken over the mantle from his father Pandit K.N. Varadaraja Iyengar who had launched Sudharma in 1970, and ensured that the publication reached its readers. He labored as a reporter, proof-reader, editor and writer.
In a bid to succeed in Sanskrit students and supporters the world over, Sampath Kumar launched an e-paper, and the newspaper went digital. The print version had a subscribers base of practically 4,000 readers, largely from numerous Sanskrit universities and establishments throughout India, whereas the digital version had a wider footprint.
Sampath Kumar is survived by his spouse.
