The Chief Minister is taking efforts to restore historical monuments throughout the State, stated Minister for Industries Thangam Thennarasu, right here on Saturday.
The Minister addressed mediapersons together with Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan and District Collector S. Aneesh Aneesh, after inspecting the famed Thirumalai Nayak Palace.
The Minister stated that the federal government was restoring historical monuments to showcase the delight of Tamil tradition to future generations. The palace, constructed by King Thirumalai Nayak, is among the main sights in Madurai. During former DMK chief M. Karunanidhi’s rule as a Chief Minister, a complete of ₹11 crore was allotted for restoration of the palace, stated Mr. Thangam Thennarasu.
Currently, the State Archaeological division has earmarked ₹8 crore for restoration of the palace. Now, the natakasala, palace shrine and sculptural yard of the palace are being restored to their unique glory. The restoration work will probably be carried out in phases. The first section of the excavation will start quickly, the Minister stated.
The palace has many necessary inscriptions belonging to numerous intervals. There are additionally vattezhuthu inscriptions in the palace. Similarly, stone sculptures belonging to completely different time intervals are there on the palace. A library can be proposed to be arrange on the premises, stated Mr. Thangam Thennarasu.
When requested in regards to the Madurai- Thoothukudi Industrial Corridor, the Minister stated that for the previous 10 years, the Special Purpose Vehicle arrange for the undertaking was not functioning. “Our government will make sure that this Special Purpose Vehicle will function,” he added.
