Eminent Sanskrit scholar Bannanje Govindacharya passes away in Udupi

A Padma Shri awardee, he had edited the weekly journal of Kannada every day ‘Udayavani’ for some years through the Seventies
Noted Sanskrit scholar and eminent discourser Bannanje Govindacharya handed away at his residence in Ambalpady in Udupi on Sunday. He was 84 and is survived by 4 daughters. Govindacharya had misplaced his son a number of days in the past.
A Padma Shri awardee, he had edited the weekly journal of Kannada every day Udayavani for some years through the Seventies.
As a discourser he had introduced plenty of discourses on diverse matters in totally different elements of the nation and overseas. His commentaries on Vishnu Sahasranama are well-known.
He had written a number of books on Sanskrit language, literature, tradition, philosophy which have a large topic base and design. The scholar had written Sanskrit commentary to a number of works of Madhwacharya, together with Anandamala, Vayustuti, Vishnustuti.
He had translated works like Madhwaramayana and Mangalashtaka to Kannada. Also, starting from Purushasukta and Srisukta, he had printed a number of writings on the Upanishads, Bhagavadgita in addition to a number of essays on varied philosophical texts.
