Former Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala released from Tihar Jail

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Indian National Lok Dal president Om Prakash Chautala, who was serving a 10-year jail time period in a instructor recruitment rip-off case, was released from the Tihar jail right here on Friday, July 2 2021, after finishing due formalities, jail officers stated.

The 86-year-old Chautala, who was already out on parole, reached Tihar on Friday to finish formalities after which he was released from jail, they stated.

Director General (Delhi Prisons), Sandeep Goel, stated, “After necessary formalities, he (Chautala) has been released”.

Last month, the Delhi authorities had handed an order granting a six-month particular remission to those that have served nine-and-half years of their 10-year jail sentence to decongest jails in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to officers, since Chautala has already served 9 years and 9 months of his sentence, he was eligible to get out of jail.

Chautala was jailed in 2013 in reference to the instructor recruitment rip-off case. He was on emergency parole since March 26, 2020, as a result of Covid pandemic and was scheduled to give up on February 21, 2021.

However, his parole had been prolonged by the excessive courtroom, a senior jail official had stated earlier.

As on February 21, he had two months and 27 days of jail time left which has been counted as remitted.

O.P.Chautala, his son Ajay Chautala, and 53 others, together with IAS officer Sanjiv Kumar, had been convicted and sentenced within the case of unlawful recruitment of three,206 junior primary lecturers in 2000.

They all had been sentenced to various jail phrases within the case by a particular CBI courtroom in January 2013.

Reacting to the event, Chautala’s youthful son Abhay stated his household will at all times be grateful to the individuals for his or her “love and prayers in times of crisis”.

Chautala’s grandson Dushyant, who left the INLD and floated the Jannayak Janta Party in 2018, stated he learnt in regards to the improvement by media. “It is a matter of happiness,” he stated.
