Ghaziabad assault case: SP worker arrested

A Samajwadi Party worker was arrested on Saturday for allegedly instigating an aged Muslim man to assert in a video that he was overwhelmed up by 4 youths who additionally chopped his beard and requested him to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Loni space of Ghaziabad.

“The accused, identified as Ummaid Pehelwan, was held near the LNJP hospital in Delhi by a team of Ghaziabad police. He is being brought here for further proceedings in the case,” Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Amit Pathak mentioned.
The FIR, filed towards Idrisi on the grievance of an area policeman, alleged that he had ‘unnecessarily’ made the video — wherein Abdul Shamad Saifi narrates his ordeal.
It was made with an intention to ‘create social disharmony’ and shared by means of his Facebook account, the FIR mentioned. He was booked beneath IPC sections 153A (selling enmity between teams on floor of faith, class and so forth), 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, meant to outrage non secular emotions of any class by insulting its faith or non secular perception), 504 (intentional insult with intent to impress breach of the peace) and 505 (public mischief).
A separate FIR was lodged towards him on Thursday night in Bulandshahr district that charged him and round 100 others with violation of the COVID-19 norms by holding a public gathering on June 16, the officers mentioned.
Bulandshahr resident Saifi, who had made communal allegations in his video on June 14, had earlier on June 7 alleged in a grievance to the Ghaziabad police that he was assaulted by 4 youths on June 5 after being kidnapped by them and confined in a room in a secluded area in Ghaziabad’s Loni space. On being requested about Saifi’s allegations, Mr. Pathak had mentioned earlier that the aged Muslim man had made no communal allegations in his unique grievance.
