The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday sought a response from the State on a public curiosity litigation petition that sought a path for provision of permanent authorities jobs to distinguished differently abled sportspersons.
A Division Bench of Justices N. Kirubakaran and B. Pugalendhi sought the response on the PIL petition filed by R. Parasuraman from Madurai, a retired bodily training instructor, who now coaches differently abled sportspersons freed from value.
The petitioner stated the federal government had issued an order by giving reservation to differently abled sportspersons below Section 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. Subsequently, the share of reservation was additionally elevated.
However, it was not carried out, he stated, pointing on the present standing of Gurunathan, a distinguished sportsperson from Madurai who had received a number of medals at worldwide, nationwide and State-level sports activities meets.
The petitioner stated Gurunathan was working within the workplace of the Madurai Collector as a short lived contract worker. Though a number of representations had been made for regularisation of providers, no steps had been taken, he stated.
Many differently abled sportspersons like Gurunathan had not been given permanent jobs. The authorities ought to present permanent employment alternatives to such achievers, he stated.
