Suspension of mobile telephone and Internet services on Republic Day and Independence Day has been a part of the safety drill.
Internet services on mobile devices had been suspended in Kashmir on Tuesday as a precautionary measure for making certain easy passage of Republic Day celebrations in the valley, officers stated.
“The mobile internet telephone services have been temporarily suspended in the valley for ensuring peaceful Republic Day celebrations,” the officers stated.
However, the mobile telephone services remained unaffected.
Suspension of mobile telephone and Internet services on Republic Day and Independence Day has been a part of the safety drill in the valley since 2005 when militants used a mobile telephone to set off an IED blast close to the venue of Independence Day celebrations.
