TDP nationwide president and former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday stated the failure of the Jagan Mohan Reddy authorities at multiple-levels had hit the Polavaram challenge onerous.
At a press convention right here, Mr. Naidu stated the multi-purpose challenge throughout the Godavari river close to Rajamahendravaram, comprising a 194 tmcft reservoir for irrigation and ingesting water functions and an influence plant of 960 MW capability was the lifeline of Andhra Pradesh.
“Amaravati and Polavaram are like two eyes of the State. But unfortunately, the Chief Minister’s irresponsible way of handling the key issues will ruin both the projects,” stated Mr. Naidu.
Talking about how the Chief Miniser had shot a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Ministry of Finance capping challenge value at ₹20,398 crore as towards the ₹47,725 crore the State wished, Mr. Naidu stated Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy lacked the finesse wanted to deal with such vital points.
Reverse tendering
Pointing to the truth that the Union Finance Ministry had supplied lower than half of the revised value required to finish the Polavaram multi-purpose dam challenge, placing a query mark on its future, Mr. Naidu stated it was unfair on the a part of Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy to push the blame on the TDP at this stage.
He alleged that the YSR Congress Party was resorting to mudslinging at the TDP as a diversionary tactic. He stated Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ignorance and vanity have been at play when he went forward with the reverse tendering course of, ignoring the recommendation of the Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) and the Union Jal Shakti Ministry.
The TDP president stated the general challenge value had elevated manifold due to the hike in the price of land acquisition and the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) elements, which had gone up from ₹2,937.26 crore throughout 2010-11 to ₹33,187.07 crore after the 2013 Land Acquisition Act got here into pressure.
“The YSRCP government should have convinced the Centre and settled the issue in an amicable way. Finding lapses with the previous regime and writing letters to the Centre would not help the people of Andhra Pradesh. A crucial project which has a potential to irrigate every acre in the State is now hanging fire,” stated Mr Naidu.
He stated as a substitute of focussing on early completion of the challenge, the YSRCP authorities was busy making pointless feedback towards the TDP, blaming it for taking on the challenge beneath the State Government’s supervision.
National challenge
He stated the Polavaram was declared a nationwide challenge in 2014, which means that the Central authorities would offer the funds whereas the State authorities will execute the work.
He stated taking into account the previous file of 16 nationwide tasks executed in 10 States had taken 30 to 50 years for completion, the Union Cabinet had given the duty of executing the Polavaram challenge to the State authorities.
