Jowar, red gram, green gram, ragi to be distributed under PDS from April

To enhance dietary consumption, the State authorities has determined to distribute jowar, red gram and green gram by way of the general public distribution system (PDS) from April 1, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Umesh Katti has stated.
Speaking to media individuals after collaborating within the 72nd Republic Day celebrations in Kalaburagi on Tuesday, Mr. Katti hinted that moreover these three main crops of the North Karnataka area, the federal government is planning to distribute ragi, a serious crop in South Karnataka districts, by way of the general public distribution outlets at subsidised costs.
As many as 2.10 lakh households within the State benefited from the National Food Security Act (NFSA) Scheme and a pair of.10 lakh ration playing cards have been issued to households coming under under poverty line (BPL) and who’re eligible for the Antodaya Anna Yojna Scheme, he added.
Mr. Katti urged farmers to withdraw their protest towards the three farm legal guidelines, as a committee comprising agricultural specialists will look into the grievances, if any, in them.
Replying to a query, Mr. Katti stated that he’ll deal with long-pending irrigation initiatives and is dedicated to the general growth of the North Karnataka area.
“My intention is not to divide the State, but I cannot tolerate North Karnataka being discriminated against. If such injustice and discrimination continue against us, we may raise our voice for statehood,” Mr. Katti reiterated.
