Kannada activists taken into custody in Belagavi

A protest by activists in Belagavi demanding alternative of a torn Kannada flag hoisted in entrance of the Belagavi Municipal Corporation ended with the police taking them into custody following an altercation.
The competition of the activists, led by Shrinivas Talukar and Wazid Hirekoodi, was that the administration had turned a deaf ear to their repeated pleas to interchange the torn Kannada flag.
The activists had include a brand new flag to interchange the torn one. But, police to permit them to interchange the torn flag. Instead, police instructed them to disperse after submitting a memorandum to the administration.
Police, led by ACP Sadashiv Kattimani, and company employees tried to persuade the activists to finish their protest saying they’d take up the problem with the authorities involved. The activists refused to budge, which led to a heated argument with the police for a couple of minutes.
When the activists refused to budge, police took 10 of them into preventive custody. They have been launched later.
On December 28, 2020, activists had hoisted the Kannada flag close to the municipal company. Marathi teams demanded elimination of the flag, which had evoked robust reactions from Kannada activists.
