The housing challenge grew to become the middle of a political controversy after it was revealed that Swapna Suresh had acquired fee cash for it
The Kerala High Court has stayed the CBI probe into the alleged Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act violation in the Vadakkanchery Life Mission housing challenge case for 2 months.
Justice V.G. Arun stayed the proceedings when the case was thought-about on Wednesday.
It was on a petition moved by U.V. Jose, the Chief Executive Officer of the Mission, that the Court issued the order.
The CBI had booked the case following a grievance from Anil Akkara, a Congress legislator. The legislator had complained that the provisions of the Act have been violated in the monetary transactions between the UAE-based Red Crescent, the sponsor of the challenge and Unitac, a building firm for constructing the homes.
The housing challenge grew to become the middle of a political controversy after it was revealed that Swapna Suresh, the second accused in the diplomatic baggage gold smuggling case, had acquired fee cash for the challenge.
On its half, the Mission authorities contended that neither the State authorities nor the Mission had any position in the number of the development firm and it was the sponsors who recognized the agency. The Mission additionally submitted that the development firm which was contracted for the challenge, did not come beneath any class of group that was banned from receiving overseas contributions.
