Korean govt. gives award to director of InKo Centre

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea introduced that the Korean authorities will award the Prime Minister’s quotation to Dr. Rathi Jafer, Director of the Indo-Korean Cultural and Information Centre, InKo Centre, a non-profit society, supported primarily by TVS Motor Company, Hyundai Motor India Ltd and Korean and Indian member corporations.
The award is for her excellent contribution to the event of the Korean language and its dissemination in South India. This is the primary time an individual from South India could be honoured with the Prime Minister’s Medal, an announcement stated. During her 14-year tenure because the Director of the InKo Centre for 14 years since November 2006, Dr. Jafer contributed considerably in enhancing the training of Korean and in creating an curiosity in Hangul and different points of Korean tradition for 250 million South Indians, it added.

Dr. Rathi ensured the induction of native educating workers for the Korean language programme by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sangmyung University in June 2010.
The King Sejong Institute, Chennai, on the InKo Centre affords a structured, graded suite of programs from the newbie to superior ranges.
As many as 2,065 college students graduated from the Korean language programs between 2007 and 2019, thereby creating a big Human Resource base proficient within the language in South India, in accordance to the discharge.
