Maharashtra issues revised rates for COVID-19 treatment in private hospitals

Urban and rural areas have been divided into three classes in newest notification
The Maharashtra authorities on Tuesday revised the rates for private hospitals for COVID-19 treatment by dividing the city and rural areas in to a few classes.
As per the State authorities notification, class A would come with Mumbai, Mumbai Metropolitan Region (excluding Bhiwandi and Vasai-Virar), Pune and Nagpur (Nagpur municipal company, Digdoh and Wadi). Category B contains Nasik, Auranagabd, Amaravati, Bhiwandi, Vasai-Virar, Kolhapur, Solapur, Malegaon, Nanded and Sangli. Rest of the state is a part of class C.
The time restrict of the sooner notification of fixing hospital mattress rates ended on May 31. The new notification has been issued with revised rates by categorising completely different areas of the State. As per this, private hospitals should comply with authorities rates on 80% beds used for COVID-19 sufferers whereas on the remaining, it will possibly cost rates mounted by the hospital.
The State has mounted the utmost expenses that may be utilized on COVID-19 sufferers by private hospitals in these three classes. For common isolation, hospitals in class A can cost ₹4,000 per day whereas these in Category B and C can cost ₹3,000 and ₹2,400 respectively. This contains medical supervision, nursing, checks, medicines, meals and mattress expenses. Rates of COVID-19 checks have already been mounted whereas medicines required for greater treatment have been excluded from this.
Isolation in Intensive care Unit (ICU) with ventilator would cost ₹9,000 per day in hospitals in class A areas whereas these in class B and C would cost ₹6,700 and ₹5,400 per day. In case ventilators are usually not getting used, hospitals in class A can cost most of ₹7,500 per day whereas these in class B and C can cost most of ₹5,500 and ₹4,500 per day respectively.
Maharashtra’s Public Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that he had obtained plenty of functions in search of revision of hospital rates. “We decided to categorise regions in the State to fix maximum price and the proposal was then sent to Chief Minister,” he stated.
Earlier, the rates in city areas and people in rural components had been similar. “This will help patients in rural parts. We categorise as per the prevalent practice in insurance companies and other private companies who offer various allowances based on areas,” he added.
