Backlash in Arunachal
Locals in Arunachal Pradesh thrashed 4 members of the outlawed Yung Aung faction of the NSCN (Khaplang) in Longding district to launch a villager named Khamjan Wangsu. The incident came about on May 16.
The district police stated Lalto Wangham, the top gaon burah (village chief) of Longkhao village lodged a grievance on May 17 relating the incident.
According to the grievance, members of NSCN (K-YA) kidnapped Mr. Wangsu after firing indiscriminately on the villagers. He was tortured and later taken in the direction of Maihwa village close by.
“The villagers tried to negotiate the man’s release but an argument and fighting ensued. They secured the man’s release and also snatched two AK-47 assault rifles from his abductors,” a police official stated.
