Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) president J.P. Nadda will visit West Bengal subsequent week ahead of the Durga Puja festivities. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah was scheduled to visit the State later this month however now Mr. Nadda will visit.
According to BJP leaders, Mr. Nadda can be in Siliguri in north Bengal on October 19. The BJP management together with Mr. Nadda and Mr. Shah have been holding digital conferences and rallies within the State for the previous few months. This would be the first visit of Mr. Nadda after the outbreak of the pandemic. The State BJP management despatched two letters to the Union Home Ministry. Its MP Locket Chatterjee wrote to Mr. Shah demanding that the blast at a neighborhood membership in Kolkata’s Beleghata space needs to be probed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The roof of the membership was blown off on Tuesday within the explosion which was almost definitely due to piling up of crude bombs.
Another BJP MP Santanu Thakur additionally wrote to the Centre on the implementation of The Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Mr. Thakur, MP from Bongaon within the North 24 Parganas, is a frontrunner from the Matua neighborhood. Getting citizenship has been a longstanding demand of the Matuas belonging to Namashudra neighborhood who migrated from East Pakistan and Bangladesh.
“Wherever I go, people ask me about when the Act will be implemented,” Mr. Thakur mentioned. Former Meghalaya Governor Tathagata Roy mentioned he helped in drafting the letter explaining the importance of the neighborhood and their demand for citizenship.
