Nilgiri-Wayanad railway action panel to resume agitation

The Nilgiri-Wayanad National Highway and Railway Action Committee, which has been campaigning for the Nilambur-Nanjangud railway line, is getting ready to intensify their agitation demanding not to subvert the proposed venture.
Speaking to The Hindu, action committee convener T.M. Rasheed stated the Nilambur-Nanjangud railway line was included within the pink ebook of the Ministry of Railways in 2016 and the Centre had dedicated to allot ₹3,000 crore for the venture. The Railway Board had additionally authorised a proposal to put together an in depth venture report and directed E. Sreedharan, Principal Advisor to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), to put together it, Mr. Rasheed stated.
The estimated price of the venture was ₹4,000 crore and the State authorities had allotted ₹8 crore for the preliminary works.
Public Works Minister G. Sudhakarana introduced the launching of the venture right here on February 11, 2017, and issued an order to launch ₹2 crore of the ₹8 crore to the DMRC account. But, the State authorities froze the transaction on the identical day and directed Mr. Sreedharan to conduct a feasibility examine on the Thalassery-Mysuru railway line. ‘CM was misled’
