The Department of Information Technology, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal, will introduce a brand new 4-year B.Tech. course in Artificial Intelligence from 2021-22.
The Academic Senate, Board of the institute and the Union Ministry of Education have accepted the course. The admissions shall be by means of JEE (Main) rating.
Karanam Uma Maheshwar Rao, Director, NIT-K, stated in a launch on Thursday that this diploma would put together college students for trade or additional research by providing specializations in completely different areas of AI like knowledge science, human-centred computing, cyber-physical methods, and robotics. “Its curriculum will focus on the use of inputs such as video, speech, and big data to make decisions or enhance human capabilities,” he stated.
Prof. Rao added, “This specialization empowers students to build intelligent machines, software, or applications with state-of-the-art technology using machine learning, data analytics, and data visualization technologies.” Earlier, AI was a subset of Computer Science, however in latest years it has grown sufficient to qualify as a particular and an even bigger unit. As a consequence, job alternatives for the undergraduates of B.Tech (AI) programs are completely different from standard IT jobs.
He added that the brand new course is in conformance with the National Education Policy 2020, which stresses the necessity to enhance the expert workforce involving arithmetic, laptop science, and knowledge science, in conjunction with multidisciplinary talents.
