Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday denied a media report that the federal government had moved to focus executive power with the Chief Minister’s Office by amending the foundations of enterprise that govern day-to-day administration.

The newspaper report had advised that the coalition Ministers had objected to any modification to the foundations of enterprise as a result of they feared it could undermine their authority and focus executive power with the Chief Minister and heads of departments. Mr. Vijayan mentioned the report was mere hypothesis.
Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala had mentioned any alteration of the foundations of enterprise would undermine democracy and bolster authoritarianism. It would do away with checks and balances within the system and promote the arbitrary train of executive power.
