Now, local bodies can clear building plans for up to 10,000 sq ft built-up area

In a big improvement, the Tamil Nadu authorities on Tuesday expanded the powers already delegated to local bodies (besides Chennai), permitting them to grant planning permission for residential buildings with built-up area of up to 10,000 sq ft. Earlier, the restrict was 7,000 sq ft.

The local bodies, barring Chennai, can clear building plans for up to eight dwelling items, not exceeding 12 m in top, up to stilt + 3 flooring or floor + 2 flooring.

However, the present delegation of powers to local bodies in case of business buildings will proceed, in accordance to a G.O. issued on October 13 and made obtainable to Puucho News.

The G.O. requested the Director of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) and the Member Secretary, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, to implement the brand new rule.
