Relay starvation strikes being organised at Gandhi Statue by commerce unions and folks’s organisations opposing the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant entered the 102nd day on Monday.
Workers within the unorganised sector of Arilova and Madhurawada zones and AIDWA leaders participated within the relay starvation strike.
CITU Madhurawada zone president D. Appalaraju stated that solely mass struggles can assist in halting the privatisation plan of the Centre. He stated that the Centre was bent on handing over public sector banks, insurance coverage corporations, ports, airports, HPCL, BPCL, airways and railways to company teams on a platter.
He stated it was as a result of public sector organisations that employees within the unorganised sector, constructing building employees, auto-rickshaw employees and push-cart distributors had been in a position to earn their livelihood. The agitation can be continued until the Centre revoked its resolution on the privatisation of VSP and different PSUs. It was not smart at hand over public property to non-public people, he stated.
