After the primary quake of 6.4 magnitude struck Tezpur at 7.51 a.m. on Wednesday, a complete of 18 aftershocks hit the district and its close by areas on each side of the Brahmaputra in central Assam, an official stated on Thursday morning.

Severe harm to buildings and roads was reported from throughout Assam, following the primary earthquake, tremors of which had been felt throughout the Northeast, elements of West Bengal, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
