Power billing in extra: consumers
Since Tangedco didn’t undertake an evaluation of meters in the town through the lockdown, 1000’s of home consumers have raised complaints of exorbitant billing.
When the State authorities introduced a lockdown from May 10, the Tangedco prolonged its window for cost of electrical energy payments, briefly halting door-to-door evaluation after meter assessors refused to do the job fearing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Initially, Tangedco introduced that consumers must pay electrical energy payments from 2019. But after a number of complaints, home consumers had been requested to self assess meters and ship the readings to native officers for updation. Domestic consumers have since been highlighting billing issues as a result of stopping of door-to-door evaluation.
Some stated that they had been billed for locked homes. New tenants who occupied homes lately cited excessive electrical energy payments and in some instances, there was no billed quantity as the home was saved locked in 2019.
Activists say as a result of a number of native officers will not be on WhatsApp, consumers will not be capable of ship photographs of meter readings. A bit of consumers are additionally aggrieved about officers harassing them by asking them to go to native electrical energy workplaces to know and replace their payments.
A senior Tangedco official stated they had been receiving lots of of complaints about such points. To rectify them, a devoted WhatsApp facility, 9445850811, had been launched. More than one lakh payments from electrical energy consumers had been corrected and uploaded, he stated.
