Private bus operators, who had been roped in to supply different transport services to commuters in view of the KSRTC strike, withdrew their services on Sunday in protest towards the KSRTC buses taking away their passengers.
Though the Transport Department had permitted them to ferry passengers freely on varied routes, together with the Bengaluru, Hassan, Virajpet, Gundlupet, and Nanjangud ones for one month, KSRTC workers have been bringing their very own buses and transporting the passengers to completely different locations, depriving the personal operators a possibility to replenish their buses, they mentioned.
Prithviraj, president of Mysuru District Private Bus Owners’ Association, mentioned the personal buses have been unable to search out more than 4 or 5 passengers in their buses, inflicting them heavy losses. “We are unable to recover our fuel cost,” he complained. Mr. Prithviraj claimed that about 300 personal buses had been pressed into service to supply different transport in Mysuru in the course of the KSRTC strike.
The personal bus operators, who parked their buses on the grounds in entrance of the Mysuru palace, threatened to stage a dharna if their demand to function freely for one month, as was agreed upon initially, was not honoured.
Meanwhile, the KSRTC’s Mysuru divisional controller, K.H. Srinivas, mentioned the variety of KSRTC workers returning for responsibility was rising day-to-day. “While we were able to resume 50% of our services on Saturday, it was about 70% on Sunday,” he mentioned. The KSRTC’s Mysuru Rural Division normally operates about 5,800 journeys from 575 buses on daily basis.
