Punjab gangsters killed in Kolkata encounter
A policeman suffered bullet accidents in the operation.
Two alleged gangsters from Punjab had been killed in an encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal police in the New city space of Kolkata on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials of the STF stated a policemen suffered bullet accidents in the operation and had been hospitalised.
“Jaypal (Bhullar) and Jaspreet (Singh) had killed two ASIs [Assisant sub inspectors] in Ludhiana, Punjab, on May 15. There was a cash reward on them,” Additional Director-General of Police, STF, Vineet Kumar Goyal instructed presspersons. The police stated the 2 gangsters had been hiding in town for the previous few days.
The encounter passed off in a fancy housing complicated in New Town in the northeastern fringes of town round 3.30 p.m., creating panic among the many residents. Several rounds had been fired throughout the encounter.
Police officers stated that once they knocked the doorways of flat no 201 on the second ground of Tower B of the residential complicated, they had been fired at from inside.
The officers stated they wished to make arrests, however had been pressured to open fireplace in self-defence.
Five refined pistols, 89 rounds of reside ammunitions and ₹7 lakh in money had been recovered from the flat, Mr. Goyal stated.
The injured STF officer, Kartik Mohan Ghosh, was present process therapy at a hospital in Salt Lake.
A staff of Central Investigation Department of the West Bengal Police was sanitising the place to verify whether or not explosive or arms had been hidden there. Mr. Goyal stated a staff of the Punjab Police had reached Kolkata.
