India is now aiming to surpass China in mobile manufacturing with the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme attracting international majors, Telecom and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad mentioned on December 14.
He mentioned the federal government is wanting to make India a hub of different digital merchandise as properly with the growth of the PLI scheme to different sectors.
“We wanted India to become the second largest mobile manufacturer in the world. Now, I am pushing India to surpass China. That’s my goal and I am very clearly defining it,” Mr. Prasad mentioned on the annual normal assembly of FICCI.

The National Policy on Electronics 2019 (NPE) envisages digital manufacturing turnover of greater than ₹26 lakh crore by 2025, out of which ₹13 lakh crore is predicted to come from the mobile cellphone section.

The authorities has cleared 16 proposals from home and worldwide firms entailing funding of ₹11,000 crore beneath the PLI scheme to manufacture mobile telephones price ₹10.5 lakh crore over the following 5 years.
The firms embrace iPhone maker Apple’s contract producers Foxconn Hon Hai, Wistron and Pegatron, aside from Samsung and Rising Star.
Domestic firms whose proposals have been accepted embrace Lava, Bhagwati (Micromax), Padget Electronics (Dixon Technologies), UTL Neolyncs and Optiemus.
