Health Department has issued G.O.
The Tamil Nadu Health Department has issued a G.O. on the reduced fee construction for Rajah Muthiah Medical College, Rajah Muthiah Dental College and Rani Meyyammai College of Nursing, which have been earlier affiliated to Annamalai University.
MBBS college students will now pay ₹13,160 a yr in tuition fee, BDS college students ₹11,610 and B.Sc. nursing college students ₹5,000.
For postgraduate levels, the fee is ₹30,000 a yr, and for PG diplomas, it’s ₹20,000, in response to the order.
The Higher Education Department handed these faculties over to the Health Department on January 27. The tuition fee construction for these faculties has been introduced on a par with that of the opposite authorities medical and dental faculties.
The college students, who had been admitted via single-window counselling by the Directorate of Medical Education for 2 years now, needed to pay charges way over these at self-financing faculties.
The faculties had been affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and renamed as Government Medical College, Government Dental College, and Government Nursing College. Their declared goal was to serve the inhabitants of Cuddalore district.
Two months in the past, the scholars launched a strike towards the upper fee. Parents and college students have been staging dharnas and fasts.
When the scholars determined to boycott emergency companies, Annamalai University closed its premises indefinitely and requested the scholars to vacate the hostels. But the protests continued. Thereafter, the Higher Education Department handed the universities over to the Health Department.
