Rajya Sabha bypolls to a few seats in Gujarat and Assam, together with the one which fell vacant as a result of loss of life of senior Congress chief Ahmed Patel, might be held on March 1, the Election Commission mentioned on Thursday.
Two Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat fell vacant late final 12 months, following the deaths of Ahmed Patel and Abhay Bhardwaj (BJP). While Patel died on November 25, 2020, Bhardwaj handed away on December 1, 2020.
The Rajya Sabha phrases of Patel and Bhardwaj have been to finish in August 2023 and June 2026, respectively.
One Rajya Sabha seat in Assam fell vacant after lone Bodo People’s Front MP Biswajit Daimary resigned from the Upper House in November final 12 months. His time period was to finish in April, 2026.
