Chikkudu Swamy is a resident of Tukkapur village in Toguta mandal. For the previous few weeks, the villagers have been dealing with a peculiar downside. They are spending sleepless nights. The motive: blasting that has been happening adjoining to the village for development of a canal.
Villagers allege that their homes have been creating cracks and the asbestos sheets on the roofs of some homes broke with the influence of the blasting. This was being achieved for developing a distributary channel, While locals allege that the work was being achieved for the extra tmcft water from the Kaleshwaram to Mallannasagar, officers mentioned it was half of the Mallannasagar mission solely they usually couldn’t take up extra tmcft works as National Green Tribunal has ordered keep on that.
“Several old houses have developed cracks and our repeated appeals and protests were not heeded. We are facing even the problem of dust and small rocks felling on our houses,” mentioned Mr Swamy, one of the villagers.
“Only with the construction of distributary channel will the bund work be completed. Hence officials are in a rush to complete these works. The construction company has installed CC cameras as we are repeatedly visiting this area,” mentioned one other villager Raju.
These villagers are dealing with one other major problem. As the surge pool close to the village was full with Kaleshwaram water flowing to Kondapochamma, the seepage has entered the homes in the village and their bogs are full of water. Hence attending nature’s name has turn into an issue for them.
