After the Ministry of Home Affairs cleared the 100% occupancy charge in cinema halls from February 1, in a contemporary Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has requested the cinema halls to have staggered show timings to make sure there may be no overcrowding within the widespread areas.

As per the newest SOP, the cinema halls have been directed to make sure that show graduation time, intermission interval and end time of a show at any display didn’t overlap with that of a show at another display in a multiplex.

The cinema halls are usually not allowed to operate in containment zones. While issuing the SOP, the I&B Ministry has clarified that the State and Union Territory administrations can impose extra measures as per their very own evaluation.
“These are normal restrictions that we have to follow in these abnormal times. And hopefully, soon we will be able to do away with these restrictions too,” I&B Minister Prakash Javadekar mentioned whereas releasing the SOP.
The Ministry has mentioned that the standard rush to purchase popcorn or a go to to the washroom during the intermission must be discouraged. “Audience may be encouraged to avoid movement during the intermission. Longer intermissions may be used to allow the audience seated in different rows of the auditorium to move in a staggered manner,” the SOP states.
Though Mr. Javadekar clarified that the viewers could be allowed to take meals objects introduced from the corridor again to their seats.
