Suspend vaccine supply to private hospitals, Jagan urges PM

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to droop the supply of vaccines to private hospitals instantly from the producers till there’s a surplus amount.

Further Mr. Jagan mentioned that the provision of vaccines at each public and private hospitals could be a good suggestion provided that there was surplus availability of the vaccines whereby anybody may select any mode as per his or her alternative and monetary functionality.
“In today’s situation where supply is very limited, providing this option to private hospitals wherein they charge an exorbitant price is socially unacceptable and administratively difficult to monitor,” Mr. Jagan wrote.
“I request you to kindly look into the matter and dispense with the supply of vaccines to private hospitals so that entire stock is available only to Central and State governments to take up vaccination of all eligible people,” he mentioned.
The State authorities, with the permission of the Centre, had deferred vaccinating folks of 18-44 age group because it supposed to use meagrely obtainable doses to vaccinate individuals of 45+ age group due for the second dose within the State.
Private hospitals are allowed to purchase vaccines instantly from producer from the 50% supply earmarked for the “Other than Govt. of India” channel.
