From kids to octogenarians, residents descended on the streets, in opposition to a backdrop of lush inexperienced paddy fields, to rejoice the “momentous” event. The villagers mentioned her assumption of workplace will strengthen the connection between the 2 largest democracies.
A festive ambiance prevailed, and the village was embellished with festoons. Enthusiastic villagers set off firecrackers proper from daybreak, and kids danced to music on the streets.
Rangoli portraits
Girls and girls drew rangoli depicting Ms. Harris in entrance of their homes. Holding placards together with her footage, some villagers marched on the streets.
Special prayers have been held on the Dharma Sastha temple, a “favourite temple of her ancestors”, wishing her a profitable tenure. Laddus have been distributed extensively and calendars that includes Joe Biden and Ms. Harris grew to become sought-after souvenirs. “I never dreamt that a person with roots in our village would go on to hold the high office of the Vice-President of the U.S. We are all very excited. It is a proud moment for each and every one of us,” mentioned J. Sudhakar, a villager.
Her elevation to the place had made her ancestral village in style even in the United States. “We await her visit to Thulasendrapuram. When she visits India, I hope her itinerary includes our village,” Mr. Sudhakar added.
Women have been notably enthused over Ms. Harris’s success. S. Arulmozhi, a resident mentioned,“She has emerged as a symbol of women’s empowerment and inspires us all”.
