Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday mentioned the Tamil Nadu authorities had taken steps to get more oxygen from the Centre and Maharashtra because the common provide from Odisha had been affected by Cyclone Tauktae.
“I have written to Railways Minister Piyush Goyal for supply of 900 metric tonnes of oxygen, and the letter was personally handed over to him by DMK parliamentary party leader T.R Baalu. Mr. Goyal has promised supply,” he mentioned, addressing a consultative panel of MLAs from all events on the Secretariat.
At current, Tamil Nadu is getting 100 metric tonnes of oxygen from Odisha regularly, and two IAS officers are staying there to monitor the availability. The Centre has already elevated the availability from 480 metric tonnes to 519 metric tonnes. “We have held talks with the Maharashtra government to get 900 metric tonnes of oxygen. It is under the government’s consideration. An IAS officer is in the State to oversee supply,” he mentioned.
Mr. Stalin mentioned steps had been taken via TIDCO to manufacture oxygen, via a three way partnership, and the Industries Department had made preparations to import life-saving gear, together with oxygen concentrators, cylinders, regulators, circulation metres and cryogenic tankers, at a value of ₹40 crore.
The authorities will purchase 2,150 cylinders from Singapore via SIPCOT and one other 1,000 via CII, moreover 800 from Dubai, 975 from South Korea and 380 from Malaysia. Moreover, the Greater Chennai Corporation will purchase 2,675 concentrators for ₹22 crore. Another 5,000 concentrators can be purchased from Singapore at a value of ₹20 crore, and 185 from Lebanon.
Mr. Stalin mentioned the Singapore Red Cross Society had come ahead to provide 2,000 concentrators and the WHO 100. The authorities had additionally taken steps to purchase 2,000 concentrators via a mortgage from the World Bank.
He mentioned the usage of oxygen at authorities hospitals had come down due to optimisation.
The Chief Minister mentioned the federal government had introduced a 30% grant for funding for corporations prepared to make oxygen concentrators and cylinders. Companies launched between January 1 and August 31 may get the grant. Companies that may manufacture 10 metric tonnes of oxygen earlier than November 30 may even get a 30% grant. The corporations can get loans at 6% curiosity and grant via the Tamil Nadu Industrial Investment Corporation.
He mentioned oxygen manufacturing had been deliberate at INOX in Hosur and SIGGILSOL in Ranipet at a value of ₹100 crore.
