Tension prevails at polling booth

Tension prevailed outdoors a polling booth in Vazhaithoppu in Madurai South constituency on Tuesday evening as a big group of individuals protested towards polling officers who, they mentioned, had damaged the seal of a VVPAT unit within the presence of an AIADMK booth agent.

M. Boominathan of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, an ally of the DMK, and S.S. Saravanan of the AIADMK are the primary contestants within the constituency.

The protesters alleged that when the seal of the VVPAT unit was damaged booth brokers of all of the events, besides the AIADMK, had been stored uninformed.

However, District Collector T. Anbalagan denied the costs and mentioned that the Presiding Officer had given particulars in regards to the closing voters to the brokers of all political events. “The polling personnel had only removed the battery from the VVPAT unit. The seal of the machine was not broken,” he added.
